Terms of Service
Popcorn Pick, last updated September 15, 2026
These terms govern your use of Popcorn Pick ("the app," "we," "us"), operated by Somewhere Media, LLC. By creating or joining a list, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What Popcorn Pick is
Popcorn Pick helps you and your friends agree on what to watch. You keep a list of movies and can invite friends with a link or short code; anyone with it can add movies and draw a pick with you. Using the app currently requires no account and no payment.
Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country) to use the app.
- Keeping your list across devices uses a magic-link email sign-in; no password is created or stored.
- Without an email, the app uses an anonymous session tied to your device, not to a name or email.
- You're responsible for keeping your access to a list (its code or link, or your signed-in session) reasonably secure, and for what happens under it.
List content and conduct
Lists, the movies on them, category names, and display names are visible to everyone on that list. Don't use Popcorn Pick to post or share anything illegal, harassing, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights. We can remove content or restrict access to the app for conduct that violates these terms or disrupts the service for others. A list's owner can remove people from it, anyone can leave a friend's list, and anyone can report a name from the People list on any list.
Movie data and recommendations
Titles, artwork, ratings, and "Surprise Me" suggestions come from a third-party source (TMDB) and our own matching logic, which runs locally in the app rather than through a third-party AI service. We don't guarantee this data is complete, accurate, or that a suggestion will match your request exactly. Treat it as a starting point for movie night, not a promise.
This application uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB.
Streaming availability comes from TMDB's watch provider data, sourced from JustWatch. Where a film can be watched changes often and differs by country; we only check the United States.
In-app purchases
Popcorn Pick does not currently sell anything in-app. If that changes, any purchase will be described clearly at the point of sale, processed through the applicable app store, and covered by an update to these terms before it goes live.
Service availability
We aim to keep Popcorn Pick available and your lists working, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Lists and their contents may be deleted after a period of inactivity, or if we need to for technical, legal, or safety reasons. We recommend not treating any list as permanent storage.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Popcorn Pick is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Somewhere Media, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including a bad movie pick.
Termination
You can stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a list or account that violates these terms. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: open You and choose Delete account.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Somewhere Media, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
